A rare parian ware jug to mark the death of Prince Albert. Produced by the Old Hall Earthenware Company (1861 to 1886) who succeeded Charles Meigh & Son at the Old Hall works in Hanley. Finely modelled with a portrait of Prince Albert on a blue ground, the handle has cameo portraits of Queen Victoria on both sides with royal regalia, including the garter star, surmounted by the crown. A superb parian ware commemorative jug finely modelled with a portrait of Prince Albert on a blue ground titled Prince Consort, while the reverse bears the Royal Coat of Arms and is impressed BORN AUGUST 26th 1819 Died DEC 14th 1861.
