A lovely Royal Doulton dish showing John Cabot's ship 'The Matthew' in full sail on its voyage to search for the North-West passage to the Indies in 1497. The low relief detail hand painted in superb colour, capturing the scene brilliantly. The Famous Ships series features seventeen iconic sailing ships of the past and was introduced in 1938.
