Robert Allen was head of a studio group of artists and craftsmen producing the finest of decorative wares. His designs used raised gold in Florentine and other Renaissance styles to complement the work of floral, landscape and other artists in his department. Wares designed and decorated by Robert Allen and artists in his studio were given RA-numbers and were not produced in great quantities - often pieces are quite unique.
