Spode's Tiber or Rome Pattern

Always beautifully printed, Spode introduced this composite view of Rome in 1811. Unusual in that the main vista extends to the edge of shapes and the border is a narrow chain motif. Spode originally called the pattern 'Rome', but over the years 'Tiber' has also been used. The full effect of the design can be seen beautifully on this dinner plate.
