Sowerby Pressed Glass - Vitro Porcelain

Sowerby 'Turquoise' Vitro-porcelain pressed glass c1875

Sowerby first introduced their range of Vitro-porcelain glass in the 1870s. The first colour was 'Turquoise' in imitation of the mineral but also capturing the light bluishness of porcelain. Stevens and Williams Threaded Glass Dish on Plated Stand c1880

A very pretty clear glass threaded dish with applied cranberry glass edge. The glass has been blown into a flower shape and is threaded underneath, using a technique developed by the old Stourbridge firm of Stevens and Williams.
