Royal Doulton - Wild Rose

Originally called 'Roses G' in the Royal Doulton pattern books, collectors now tend to call it 'Wild Rose'. Hand painted single roses in deep crimson, dusky pink and cream on a rich two tone blue ground. A stunning design produced circa 1940 to 1959, it always looks amazing when grouped together. Royal Winton Chintz - Richmond

Named after the market town in North Yorkshire, Richmond was introduced in the 1930s and usually has the early Royal Winton mark. A pretty springtime pattern with yellow daffodils and white narcissi, sprays of bluebells and hyacinths, all on a pale green ground. Mason's Patent Ironstone China

Royal Doulton - Floral Patterns

A vivid range of art deco wall plates often erroneously described as 'hand painted'. They were produced using an old technique of block printing which enabled three or four colours to be printed in succession on to transfer paper and then applied to the plate, creating extremely colourful designs. Doulton were the only pottery to retain a block printing department as most potteries were moving totally to lithographic printing at this time. For a selection see Premier Antiques

Royal Doulton - Arnhem shape

Clarice Cliff - Bizarre Pansies and Nasturtium

Essentially one design which was given two very different treatments. Nasturtium features red, orange and yellow flowers with lush green leaves on a burnt orange sponged ('cafe au lait') background. Pansies features pastel flowers in pink, blue, purple and yellow on a dripped ('delecia') background. Both were introduced in 1932. For more Clarice Cliff see Premier Antiques

Antique Majolica - Joseph Holdcroft

In the 1860s Joseph Holdcroft left Minton to set up his own pottery in Longton, Staffordshire. Majolica was produced at the Daisy Bank pottery from 1870 to 1885. Items can be found impressed either with the 'JH' monogram or 'J HOLDCROFT' but many can only be attributed by their patterns and rich colors that are documented to come from the Holdcroft pottery. Carlton Ware Butter Pats

Carlton Ware Foxglove

A classic design of embossed pink foxgloves on a pale yellow or green ground. A third colourway on a pinkish buff ground was produced briefly just before the war. For a selection visit Premier Antiques
