Royal Winton Marguerite Chintz

One of the earliest chintz patterns introduced by Grimwades in 1928, the design said to have been inspired by an embroidery done by Leonard Grimwade's wife. A fresh-looking pattern of daisies, bluebells and other wild flowers with a trim of gold, green or blue, it was the forerunner of so many Royal Winton floral chintzes. Davidson's Cloud Glass

The Gateshead glasshouse of George Davidson began producing Cloud Glass in 1923 and it was an important range which continued up to 1939 and the outbreak of war. Created by adding trails of darker molten glass to a lighter colour and then pressing into a mould, different colours were introduced over the years. Sometimes given a satin finish, this was achieved by making a paste with sulphuric acid and applying it to the glass. See my collection at Premier Antiques

Davidson's Cloud Glass

Victorian Aesthetic Movement Majolica

19th century majolica producers were quick to develop wares which captured the new Aesthetic Movement style of the 1870s. After a period of seclusion, Japan was again opening up to trade with the west and Japanese taste began to heavily influence domestic design and the Aesthetic Movement grew out of this. Here we have a fantastic jug with sprays of blossom on a stippled and oriental weave background. Bright majolica colours of pink, turquoise and cream, together with an unusual shaped handle, make a very striking item. For more majolica, visit Premier Antiques

Shelley Mabel Lucie Attwell

In 1926 Shelley commissioned the children's book illustrator Mabel Lucie Attwell to design a range of nursery ware. She had recently published a number of books featuring small elves in green suits which she called 'Boo Boos'. These, together with her classic chubby faced children, became the themes portrayed on plates, mugs, dishes and even children's potties. Accompanied by a few lines of verse and each piece with a facsimile signature, they have now become very collectable. For a good selection visit Premier Antiques

Victorian Green Glazed Majolica

From the 18th century, firms like Wedgwood and the Leeds Pottery had started to produce green wares and this was revived again from the 1850s onwards. Mainly consisting of dessert wares for serving strawberries or other fruits, the green glazes beautifully emphasize the low relief patterns, typically of basket work and foliage.
