Early Carlton Ware

In 1890 the partnership of Wiltshaw and Robinson began and they soon became leaders in the production of high quality Vellum and Blush wares. Popular in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, these delicate floral patterns were hand enamelled with the blush ground skilfully shaded and finished in best gold. Some items, like the teapot below, were edged with deep cobalt blue. Often intended for everyday use, finding pieces in good condition has always been difficult.
