Charles Rennie Mackintosh - The Glasgow School of Art

Charles Rennie Mackintosh - Glasgow School of Art

On Friday 23rd May 2014 a fire caused significant damage to this iconic building. The 1897-99 part of the building has survived intact. This includes the Mackintosh Museum, Mackintosh Room and Furniture Gallery. The GSA Archives have also survived.

The main part of the damage is in the 1907- 09 part of the building. At this time it is not possible to confirm the extent of the impact beyond the fact that the library and studio above this were sadly lost in the blaze, although it seems certain that the infrastructure of the Mackintosh Lecture Theatre is intact.

Glasgow School of Art Library

Following the fire, the Glasgow School of Art has had many generous offers of financial support. A fund has been set up so that the public can support the GSA to respond to this disastrous event. Here is the link :-
