Probably the best know and most sort after design, the Kestrel shape was introduced in 1932 for teapots, jugs and coffee pots. The sweeping finial and 'bird beak' spout show strong Art Deco influences. The shape continued in production until the late 1950s and other items such as preserve pots were added. The largest of four sizes of the Newlyn shape, this superb jug depicts a gaffer with a red bundle under his arm, leaning on his brolly at a garden gate and printed 'Gaffers I be all the way from Zummerset' on the reverse. An iconic Clarice Cliff landscape introduced in 1933. A hill with two brown roofed cottages, a tree with bubble foliage and an estuary make up the design.
