Royal Worcester 'Wild Rose' Blush Ivory Claret Jugs c1911

In the 1890s Royal Worcester introduced a range of ornamental wares inspired by the new European art nouveau style, though their roots in the aesthetic movement can still be seen. Scattered groups of enamelled flowers called 'art sprays' were embellished with gold and set on a blush ivory ground which used the new technique of aerographing. As many as five firings were used to produce the desired effect, resulting in delicate colours and rich gilding as in the superb jugs shown above.
