Introduced in September 1930, the flat sided Stamford shape was difficult to fire and hard to make at first, but it was soon being produced in sets comprising a Stamford teapot, milk and sugar. Matched with conical cups and saucers, they were an immediate success. Based on a silver design by Tétard of Paris, Clarice's pottery version has become a classic example of British art deco.
