Davenport Imari Patterns

From the early 1800s, Davenport began producing patterns based on the Japanese 'Imari' colours of cobalt blue and iron red. Early pieces were on the newly developed stone china and designs tended to be bolder with touches of lustre or gilt. By the 1870s, Imari patterns had become more refined and precise, were applied to bone china and used much more gilding. The Davenport factory became one of the leading proponents of these sumptuous wares. For more details visit my website Premier Antiques
