Pearl Ware

Originally made by Wedgwood in the 1770s as an improvement on Creamware, the whiteness of the earthenware body was enhanced with small quantities of cobalt blue being added to the glaze. Where the glaze gathers, such as around foot rims, it shows up clearly as a blue or sometimes greenish tint. Other potters soon found it ideal for blue printed wares.
