Kate Greenaway (1846-1901) was a very successful children's book illustrator and had a huge influence on all things artistic, triggering a golden age of design specifically for children. She never worked directly for any potteries but allowed her designs to be used by the transfer company Henry Dreydel. Potters then used the stock transfers to decorate their china. These have never been found on Wileman or Shelley, but they did produce a range of nursery ware in the style of Kate Greenaway which seem to be of the period 1915 to 1925. Like most early Shelley nursery ware, pieces are rare and difficult to find in good condition. For more details of a lovely plate and this charming mug see Premier Antiques
