Spode Botanical Series 'Narcissi' dinner plate c1820 |
This lovely series reverses the colours of blue and white printing with basically white British flowers on a blue line engraved ground, giving a softer look to items. Produced initially around 1820 on the double indented shape, it was also produced on a gadrooned scallop shape in the 1830s. Nine or so flowers are known for the central motif, including roses and narcissi. For more details see Premier Antiques
