Clarice Cliff 'Delecia Pansies' Tree Shape 575 Bon Dieu Vase c1933 |
Introduced at the peak of her popularity in 1932, 'Le Bon Dieu' was a range of tea and fancy wares modelled as gnarled tree trunks with the legend "I think that I shall never see a form more lovely as a tree". Decorated with rather drab glazes, the range did not sell well at all and most pieces were withdrawn and destroyed, consequently making it a rare shape to find. A few remaining blanks were successfully decorated, like this vase, with delecia floral patterns which are even rarer. For more details visit Premier Antiques
