Sowerby 'Turquoise' Vitro-porcelain pressed glass c1875 |
Sowerby first introduced their range of Vitro-porcelain glass in the 1870s. The first colour was 'Turquoise' in imitation of the mineral but also capturing the light bluishness of porcelain. By 1880, an opaque white had been developed and this was called 'Blanc de Lait' in the pattern books. For a selection of Sowerby glass visit Premier Antiques
