Victorian Majolica Vases

Thomas Sergent Palissy Style Majolica Vase c1890

Victorian majolica was developed by ceramics expert Herbert Minton and chemist Leon Arnoux and first shown at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851. This 'new' Victorian art form combined ceramic artistry and glazing techniques and many unusual shapes were produced. Vases in particular often show unique features, though they are now difficult to find in good condition. For a selection visit my website Premier Antiques
