Mason's Fenton Stone Works 'Pattern 306' Snake Handled Jug c1825

Just before the patent for their New Ironstone China was published in 1813, the Mason brothers bought the Fenton Stone Works from Sampson Bagnall. It had been previously let to Josiah Spode in 1805, but now it was run in tandem with the Masons' other works until their 1848 bankruptcy. A 'Fenton Stone Works' printed mark was used on mainly 'Japan' patterns from 1825-1840. Here is an early jug in bright 'Imari' colours. For more details visit Premier Antiques
