Introduced in 1912 with a fine polychrome background in various colour washes, the series D3596 was amended and added to in 1914 when a sepia background was used and a second series pattern number D3746 given. After more modifications in the 1920s, the series seems to have been withdrawn in the early 1930s. Below are three pieces depicting Shylock from 'The Merchant of Venice'.
