In 1912 Frederick Rhead became art director of Wood and Sons, and shortly afterwards Charlotte joined her father there to train and supervise tube-liners. In 1920 Woods acquired the Crown Pottery and began producing art wares under the name of Bursley Ltd. Charlotte's main role now was as designer and producer of tube-lined wares for this new enterprise. By the end of 1926 she had left to join Burgess and Leigh (Burleigh Ware).
